Neumann Combats On-Campus Misconduct

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Neumann University’s Peer Educators took initiative in spreading awareness all over campus by posting flyers with facts and what one can do to stop domestic violence.

However, raising awareness goes beyond just this one month. Neumann University continues a comprehensive approach for all community members to ensure safety and awareness on campus and in the Residence Halls.

Annually, Neumann University distributes its Security and Fire Safety Report by email to all enrolled students, faculty, and staff, which is in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act. This report is a vital resource designed to keep the campus community informed and protected against potential risks.

This report consists of outlines of safety protocols, crime prevention measures, and specific procedures that enhance campus security.

Clearly stated in the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, “Neumann University does not discriminate on the basis of sex and will not tolerate sexual misconduct in any form, including as defined by Title IX or Neumann University’s community standards.”

Neumann University continues to uphold safety and respect for everyone in this community. Transparency is genuine and key to keeping this trust.

Specified by federal regulations, “An institution may not withhold, or subsequently remove, a reported crime from its crime statistics based on a decision by a court, coroner, jury, prosecutor, or other similar non-campus official.” Ensuring that all reported crimes are recorded transparently, upholding accountability and fostering trust within the campus community.

Below is the public information available from the Clery Crime Log from 2021-2023:

Last year alone, several incidents involving sexual misconduct and violence were reported on campus, including:

  • 1 instance of fondling, domestic violence, and dating violence each, reported on campus
  • Within Residence Halls, 1 instance each of dating violence and fondling were reported, along with 2 cases of stalking.

If I need to report an incident, who should I contact?

At Neumann University, the Title IX initiatives are overseen by Dr. Sarah Williamson, the Dean of Students, and Mrs. Linda Harvey, the Director of Human Resources, who act as Title IX Co-Coordinators.

Students, faculty, and staff can report any behavior that might be considered sexual misconduct to either of the Title IX Co-Coordinators through email, phone, or the university’s online reporting portal.
