When it comes to Neumann Lacrosse, a few words come to mind: grit, determination, and steadfast.
I have had the great pleasure and honor to be able to suit up and play for Neumann’s Lacrosse team and I have seen some great players over the years and by far the one who has made the most impact is Captain Brendan Boschi. I was able to play alongside him his freshman year.
During his freshman campaign he allotted 80 points, 28 goals, and 28 assists. Sophomore year, he allotted 104 points, 66 goals, and 18 assists. Now, during his junior year, he is currently at 46 points, 27 goals, and 19 assists, with more than enough time to complete another year of success for not only himself but the team.
His success was not preordained, but his coaches saw something in him.
“I was lightly recruited out of high school, and at the time coaches Gardner, Capone, and Zielinski took a chance on me not just to be on a collegiate team but to trust and lean on me through the highs and lows of development,” said Boschi.
“To have this success with this program, alongside the people I have played with at Neumann, is truly special and would not have been possible without them. But at the end of the day, none of my individual success matters unless we secure a conference championship in April.”
Offensive Coordinator Dalton Hoffman has watched Boschi grow as a player.
“I could always tell #25 had the talent to be the best on the team along with his drive to be the best, which he has shown with his skills to get to the net and shoot,” said Hoffman. “He used to be the young gun with talent; now he’s the veteran offensive threat that leads by example. He has impacted the team by being one of the hardest-working guys on the field. Once on the field, he’s a fierce competitor wanting the team and himself to get better, and off the field, he’s a friendly guy always with a smile on his face, being a great teammate.”
With ten games left in the season, Boschi is now looking to lead the Knights to a conference championship. The next home game is March 20th against the University of New England at 4 pm.
