The Sora Luna Lounge in Flynn Hall was packed on Thursday, September 4, as Neumann students gathered for an Eagles vs. Cowboys watch party hosted by the Business School Graduate Assistants.
The graduate assistants, consist of Tyler Kennedy, Olivia Ammon, Emma Kensey, Cecelia Mick, and Elizabeth Purcell, facilitated by Dr. Julie Lanzillo, organized the event.
The lounge and its outdoor patio filled quickly, with more than 110 students coming together to cheer on the Eagles. Laughter, chants, and friendly banter carried through the night as students enjoyed food and drinks which were completely gone by halftime.
“It was incredible to see so many students come together to cheer on the Eagles and connect with one another. Hosting events like this build’s community and school spirit, and we were thrilled with the turnout and energy throughout the night,” said graduate assistant Emma Kensey.
The Eagles secured a nail-biting 24–20 victory over the Cowboys, which made the atmosphere even more electric. “It was such a fun time! The environment reminded me of when we won the Super Bowl, everyone together to support our team,” said student Madison Clark.
For many students, the night wasn’t just about football but about building connections. “It was a lot of fun to get to watch the game with all my friends and get to see some people who I don’t get to see often,” said student Marisa Nicolucci.
Sora Luna Lounge has quickly become a go-to hub for student life.
Just a day after the watch party, the Knights Programming Board (KPB) hosted Karaoke Knight on September 5, creating a lively atmosphere filled with snacks, music, and fun.
Looking ahead, Sora Luna will continue to serve as a community gathering spot. On September 25, the lounge will host Dollar Dog Night during the Phillies game.
“Super excited! I am hoping it’s another big hit. And we are super excited to see everyone. And possibly host for Red October coming up!” said graduate assistant Elizabeth Purcell.
The Graduate Assistants say their goal is to keep the energy going with more events throughout the semester. “Events like this give us the chance to bring people together and create a sense of community,” said Kensey.
With the success of the Eagles watch party and a full calendar of events ahead, Sora Luna Lounge is showing itself to be a popular hangout for Neumann students.
