First Fall Open House

Blue and yellow balloons decorated the Mirenda Center for this year’s first of two Fall Open House events.

The event was a success. “We were very happy with how the first Fall Open House went and we couldn’t have asked for better weather for our prospective students and parents to see campus,” said Brian O’Doherty, director of Undergraduate Admissions.

Sunday, October 20th, high school students and their families traveled to Neumann’s campus to meet with faculty, get some merchandise, tour the campus, and even grab some lunch in Bruder Dining Hall.

While prospective students can schedule individual tours around campus all throughout the year, this event allows for a bit more engagement into campus culture.

During these events students and their families are given a quick presentation to provide them with information necessary to know when applying to Neumann.

Students are then grouped by their intended major to receive additional information and meet some of the professors and other faculty members in their respective departments.

Determining what grade each student was in is an easy task. The seniors held a more serious disposition, while juniors seemed to have a more relaxed composure.

There were a few sophomores visiting as well, although it was their parents who seemed to be more inquisitive.

Around 75 of the 150 people who signed up for the event were in attendance. This kind of turnout is to be expected considering the admissions team has been working on getting the word out about this event since the summer and plans are subject to change for a lot of people.

But there is no need to worry because anyone who couldn’t attend this Fall Open House can sign up for the second Fall Open House on November 17th.

The admissions team is looking forward to the next Open House and are still actively inviting students to register for the event.

They are currently using multiple communication methods to reach out to prospective students. These include using email campaigns designed by the team, and call campaigns where Student Navigators speak to students and parents about upcoming events to help get them registered.

The admissions team is also on the road at high schools, college fairs, and community events to give out information on events and the registration process.

“I wanted to thank all involved with these events and the greater campus who is so welcoming to the prospective students and parents who do visit campus. Your hospitality is helping to shape all future classes here at Neumann University. Thank you!” said O’Doherty.
